Emily Lamb
Bio:
Emily Lamb explores the absurdity of existence through the lens of the human body—its functions, failures, and the discomfort it evokes. Her work is rooted in a long-standing obsession with death and the fragile, often unsettling reality of inhabiting a body. She examines the contradiction of our physical selves: how we strive to keep our bodies private, yet remain constantly on display, vulnerable to intrusion and interpretation.
From the stray hair at the edge of a chin to leaking fluids or unexpected acne, Lamb highlights the small, grotesque moments that disrupt comfort and challenge conformity. Through her practice, she interrogates the uneasy relationship between the body and identity—revealing how the experience of embodiment can be so intense, so alienating, that it makes the skin crawl.
